Far Western Regional Conference

The 62nd Far Western Regional Conference was hosted by Beta Tau at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West.  Shirley, Monique, Cynthia(D-T), Paige, Linda, Johnnie, Mary Lou, Mary Nell (B) and Carolyn attended.  The business meetings were full and sometimes just a bit long, but it was fun meeting  sorors from the other chapters during the breaks and making new friends.

Our first timers, Mary Nell and Carolyn were recognized during one of the meetings and surprise, surprise, the whole group of "First Timers" serenaded the conference with a little song.

Our Soror of the Year, Monique Thomas-Williams was selected as the Soror of the Year for the Far Western Region. Her name will be submitted at the National Convention for possible selection at that level.  Gamma Mu received the Travel Award, the Chapter Achievement Award and first place for the Scrap Book.  A special thanks to Linda for all the hours she put in making the Scrapbook a little jewel.  Linda also won First Place for Arts and Crafts – her quilt was outstanding.

Johnny Lloyd was endorsed by the conference in her bid to become the next Far Western Regional Director.  We didn’t actually vote for her because the Regional Director is a National Office. Voting will take place at the National Convention in Houston.

Once the new Regional Director has been elected and installed, Paula St. James will take on a new role:  Emerald Princess and a well deserved rest from her many hours of service to Iota.

One of the highlights of the conference was the public luncheon.  The food was good, the entertainment delightful, and the hats were spectacular.

We left Sacramento with renewed energy, ready to give our best in 2009-2010  Program Year.
