MARY M. DUNCAN 

INSPIRATIONAL AWARD

Purpose

Beta Kappa Chapter, Seattle, Washington in memory of Soror Mary M. Duncan, and a past Far Western Regional Director (1947-1949) initiated this award.  Soror Duncan was a loyal Soror and made many contributions, but no doubt her influence was felt most by her own chapter, Beta Iota, Portland, Oregon.  The death of three Sorors within a few short years was deeply felt by Beta Iota and then the loss of their beloved president and leader was almost overwhelming.

Objective

To select a chapter or Soror who has demonstrated unselfish leadership, loyalty, outstanding contributions, and untiring efforts promoting the growth and development of IOTA’s aims and ideals.

Procedure

The committee will select the Soror or chapter whose outstanding contributions inspire Sorors of IOTA towards greater service to their sorority, community, and mankind.  The chapter reports, narrative statement or other sources of information may be used to determine the award recipient.

Notification

The committee will prepare the appropriate documents and submit to the Assistant Regional Director to ensure proper procedures were followed.  The name of the recipient will be announced at the Awards Banquet.  The Assistant Regional Director will present the recipient with the Mary M. Duncan plaque.

Chapter or Soror has demonstrated:

Untiring and Unselfish efforts

Development of IOTA’s aims and ideals

Outstanding contributions

Leadership

Loyalty
