What a Great Idea.

The Upsilom chapter in Raliegh NC came up with a great idea.  Every day (maybe not the weekends) they are presenting the title of a business book and asking for comments from people who have read it.  Should serve as inspiration to some of us to open the covers on those books resting on our shelves and turn off the telly - allowing the "reality stars" some much needed rest.

Today's book was  Good to Great.   This one I haven't read. Not buying it in paper - that's  for sure - just wondering if I want to give up some more real-estate on my iPad.

Written in 2001 - Amazon still gives Good to Great  a 4.5 star rating.

"The Challenge: Built to Last, the defining management study of the nineties, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the very beginning. But what about the company that is not born with great DNA? How can good companies, mediocre companies, even bad companies achieve enduring greatness?

The Study: For years, this question preyed on the mind of Jim Collins. Are there companies that defy gravity and convert long-term mediocrity or worse into long-term superiority? And if so, what are the universal distinguishing characteristics that cause a company to go from good to great?"    (Synopsis from Amazon's website)
